Parent Right to Know - Professional Qualifications

As parent/guardian of the Oceanside School District, federal law allows you to request the following information for teachers that instruct your child:

  • Whether the teacher is licensed or qualified by the New York State Education Department to teach the assigned grade and subject.
  • Whether the teacher is teaching under special circumstances without full state certification.
  • The teacher’s college major and any advanced degrees, including the subject of those degrees.
  • Whether your child receives support from teacher aides or paraprofessionals, and if so, their qualifications.

The information must be provided in a timely manner upon request.  If you would like to request such information, please contact Human Resources at 516-678-1213.

Please note: The School District does not hire uncertified teachers or paraprofessionals.
